Rescue FAQs

Little Pink Shelter is a registered 501(c)3 charity. All donations are tax-deductible.

When I started The Little Pink Shelter back in 2008, my mission was to help shelter dogs win their fight for a second chance at life; as a breast cancer survivor, I knew all too well the sweetness of that victory. Since founding The Little Pink Shelter, we have placed over 4,000+ dogs and puppies into loving homes.

The Little Pink Shelter is considered more of a "boutique" rescue, focusing solely on making an adoption successful. Working closely with select shelters and rescues in Arkansas where the pet overpopulation continues to be out of control, my colleagues and I are careful to temperament test each dog so we can understand the type of home to which it will be best-suited.

Too many wonderful dogs are put down each week because of lack of space, lack of funding and a widespread disregard for spaying/neutering and responsible ownership. The plight of these dogs and the quest to find each one a loving home is what fuels us every day.

Additional adoption info

The first step in the process is submitting an online application located through a link in each pet's description, or from our website at www.pinkshelter.org under the "How to Adopt" tab. Whenever possible we like to begin review with a vet reference. After that, we will be in touch to set up a lengthy phone interview where each of us has the opportunity to ask all our questions of the other. Home visits are at our discretion. Once approved, there is a contract and transport is arranged if necessary.
