Rescue FAQs

We are a local, non-profit organization based out of Kitsap County that rescues adoptable dogs and cats that may not thrive in the shelter environment and simply need a good home and a little training and TLC to make them great pets.
Additionally, KARE provides education programs, benefiting the community by helping to reduce or eliminate behaviors in at-risk dogs that cause pets to be relinquished in the first place.
Educate, Advocate, Rehabilitate for the Sake of Our Pets.
Kitsap Animal Rescue & Education (KARE) provides animal welfare education and shelter rescue support to the West Puget Sound area.

Adoption steps

  1. Submit Application
Since KARE is a small foster based rescue, please submit an application first. This helps us ensure the welfare and safety of our fosters.
  2. Interview
After reviewing your application, and if we believe it to be a good match, we will contact you for a phone interview and possible home visit
  3. Meet the Pet
Once an application is approved, we will schedule a meet and greet at our Silverdale facility. The adoption can then be finalized that day!

Additional adoption info

Adoption fees usually include spay/neuter, shots and micro- chipping. Applications and interviews are required. Visit www.nwkare.org/FAQ for more information and forms.
