Rescue FAQs

We are a rescue that networks and promote shelter dogs at risk of being euthanized at high kill shelters. If no one comes to their rescue, we step in. We are always looking for fosters and donations as well as volunteers so that we can continue to save the dogs who have run out of time at the high kill shelters.
We are a rescue group that pulls dogs from high kill shelters in North Carolina on their last day usually minutes before they are scheduled to be euthanized. We have been focused on Rowan County Animal Shelter in Salisbury, NC however have helped dogs in Iredell, Lincoln, Catawba and Nash Counties too.

Additional adoption info

All dogs are fully vetted, have age appropriate core vaccinations, and have been spayed/neutered and microchiped. 100% of the adoption fees go back to helping us rescue more dogs.

Our adoption process consists of an application, phone or face to face interview, home visit and reference checks. If you are approved to adopt from Tails of the Unwanted, you will be required to sign an adoption contract.
