Lake County Sheriff's Animal Adoption & Control Center
About Our Shelter
We are an animal adoption facility located in Crown Point, Indiana. We strive to maintain a healthy and comfortable enviornment for every animal that enters our facility We NEVER euthanise adoptable animals.
An "Un-adoptable" animal is: An animal suffereng from a Terminal Illness; an animal that is so aggressive it is a danger to itself or humans, regardless of how much it is worked with.
We promote the health and saftey of all animals. We always suggest you Spay or Neuter your pet, and we require you spay/neuter any animal you adopt from our shelter.
Come Meet our Pets
To see an updated list of our pets, visit our petfinder.com page. http://lcac.petfinder.com
We are located across from the Lake County Government Complex.
In order to adopt, you must be at least 21 years of age. We require you come into the shelter and fill out an adoption application (arrangements can be made if you live a great distance away from the shelter. Contact us for more information).
You must bring a valid drivers license with you in order to adopt. We will adopt out to anyone of any state, however, we still require a valid drivers license for verification purposes.
Our adoption fee for dogs is: Males: $80.00 Females: $90.00 This fee includes Spay/Neuter, Shots, and Microchipping.
We currently have a program called "fostering" if you are interested in adopting from us. You come into the shelter, pick the dog you are interested in adopting, fill out an adoption application and sign a release form. At that time, you can take the dog home for 10 days on a trial basis. If the dog works for you family, you would come back to the shelter (dog need not be brought with you) and fill out your paperwork, and pay your adoption fee.
If the dog does not work with your family, you can bring him/her back without paying anything and choose another dog.
Dog adoption and cat
adoption saves lives. Adopt
a dog or adopt a cat and you'll
have a friend for life! What is the difference between adopting a dog, adopting
a cat, adopting a kitten or adopting a puppy versus getting dogs for sale, cats
for sale, puppies for sale or kittens for sale from a dog breeder or a cat breeder?
When someone is breeding puppies or breeding kittens, they are creating new dogs
and cats who need homes. Some people are interested in a very specific breed of
dog, cat, puppy or kitten and they think the only way to find that specific breed
is to buy a dog for sale or buy a cat for sale from a puppy breeder or a kitten
breeder. Yet animal shelters are filled with dogs and cats who must find homes.
So rather than buying a dog or puppy for sale from a dog breeder or buying a cat
or kitten for sale from a cat breeder, we encourage people to adopt a dog, adopt
a cat, adopt a puppy or adopt a kitten at their local animal shelter, SPCA, humane
society or pet rescue group.
