Cities, Towns, and/or Counties We Serve:
Bexar and surrounding counties.
Our shelter was established in May of 2000 as a No-kill, 501 (c) (3) non-profit shelter. At that time animals were fostered and adopted out by word of mouth. In November 2001 adoptions were done out of a donated space at a local veterinary clinic, staffed completely by volunteers. We outgrew our space quickly and moved into our own location in 2002 on Hwy 281N in San Antonio. We are now at our new location on IH-10 West in Fair Oaks Ranch, near Boerne, housing only dogs. We have made great improvements threw the years and hope to increase the number of animals rescued, increase adoptions, fundraising events, and reach more of the community. We provide a temporary shelter to homeless and unwanted dogs until responsible, loving homes can be found. As a no-kill shelter, we want to help reduce the number of animals euthanized each year by educating the public on the importance of proper pet care, animal behavior and overpopulation prevention. We want to assure the dogs awaiting adoption are happy, healthy and have lots of human interaction to prevent behavior problems and increase adoptability. "Saving lives others have toss away".
