Come Meet our Pets:

Animal Harbor is a full-service animal shelter facility located at 56 Nor-Nan Rd in Winchester, TN. Turn on AEDC Hwy across from Winchester Wal-Mart and go less than a mile before seeing us on the right. We are open to the public from noon to 5 pm Tuesday--Friday, and 10 am to 4 pm on Saturday, or by appointment. Give us a call at 931-962-4472.

Our Adoption Process:

We require a signed adoption contract and a fee to adopt a pet. The normal adoption fees are: puppies $110, dogs $85, kittens $85, and cats $65. For purebreds or highly desirable breed mixes we will charge $100 or more to offset our charging less for a breed mix that is more difficult to place. For example, a Cocker Spaniel's $100 fee will help us let a big black dog go to a loving home for less than $75. We can only accept checks written on banks that operate in Franklin County, Tennessee. Otherwise, we request that the adoption fee be paid in cash. All of our pets are vet checked. They are given age-appropriate shots and spayed or neutered before adoption. Adult dogs are tested for heartworms and put on heartworm preventive. Cats are tested for FeLV and FIV, then given preventive inoculations. All of our pets are given rabies shots when they are old enough. They are all also treated with Frontline to prevent flea infestation.

Why should you adopt?

Dog adoption and cat adoption saves lives. Adopt a dog or adopt a cat and you'll have a friend for life! What is the difference between adopting a dog, adopting a cat, adopting a kitten or adopting a puppy versus getting dogs for sale, cats for sale, puppies for sale or kittens for sale from a dog breeder or a cat breeder? When someone is breeding puppies or breeding kittens, they are creating new dogs and cats who need homes. Some people are interested in a very specific breed of dog, cat, puppy or kitten and they think the only way to find that specific breed is to buy a dog for sale or buy a cat for sale from a puppy breeder or a kitten breeder. Yet animal shelters are filled with dogs and cats who must find homes. So rather than buying a dog or puppy for sale from a dog breeder or buying a cat or kitten for sale from a cat breeder, we encourage people to adopt a dog, adopt a cat, adopt a puppy or adopt a kitten at their local animal shelter, SPCA, humane society or pet rescue group.
