About Our Rescue Group:

Great Dane Friends of Ruff Love was started by a group of volunteers dedicated to saving Danes and other dogs, especially dogs that may be passed up by other rescues due to special needs. We are an extension of Ruff Love Rescue, a 501 c (3) non profit based in Thomasville NC.

Great Dane Friends helps people to:
* Determine the right breed for their lifestyle.
* Find healthy, compatible dogs who fit their wants and needs.
* Find new homes for dogs whose families can no longer keep them.
* Provide all necessary medical care to return the Dane to good health.

Come Meet our Pets:

At events and once approved to adopt you will be put in contact with the foster to set up a meeting.

Our Adoption Process:

Consists of an application, vet check, personal reference check, phone interview and home visit. Adopters are required to sign a contract that we can check on animal at anytime, that the animal has to be returned to us if they can no longer keep them and they must live indoors as a family member. All pets in the home must be up to date on vaccinations and heartworm preventative and must be spayed/neutered. Fence is required but exceptions are made on a case by case basis.

Why should you adopt?

Dog adoption and cat adoption saves lives. Adopt a dog or adopt a cat and you'll have a friend for life! What is the difference between adopting a dog or puppy versus getting dogs for sale or puppies for sale from a dog breeder? When someone is breeding puppies, they are creating new dogs who need homes. Some people are interested in a very specific breed of dog or puppy and they think the only way to find that specific breed is to buy a dog for sale from a puppy breeder. Yet animal shelters are filled with dogs who must find homes. So rather than buying a dog or puppy for sale from a dog breeder, we encourage people to adopt a dog or adopt a puppy at their local animal shelter, SPCA, humane society or pet rescue group.
