Rescue FAQs

Great Dane Friends of Ruff Love was started by a group of volunteers dedicated to saving Danes and other dogs, especially dogs that may be passed up by other rescues due to special needs. We are an extension of Ruff Love Rescue, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit based in Thomasville, NC. Great Dane Friends helps people to: * Determine the right breed for their lifestyle. * Find healthy, compatible dogs who fit their wants and needs. * Find new homes for dogs whose families can no longer keep them. * Provide all necessary medical care to return the Dane to good health.
North Carolina, South Carolina, and surrounding states on a case-by-case basis depending on volunteers available in the area to be able to do a home visit. Raleigh, NC Charlotte, NC Wilmington, NC Asheville, NC Greensboro, NC Greenville, SC Fort Mill, SC Charleston, SC ...and more!

Additional adoption info

Consists of an application, vet check, personal reference check, phone interview, and home visit. Adopters are required to sign a contract that we can check on animal at anytime, that the animal has to be returned to us if they can no longer keep them, and they must live indoors as a family member. All pets in the home must be up-to-date on vaccinations and heartworm preventative and must be spayed/neutered. Fence is required but exceptions are made on a case-by-case basis.
