We Care Animal Rescue
About Our Shelter
We Care Animal Rescue has been in existence since 1982. We work to advocate for and rescue the under dogs of the animal community. We rescue stray and abandoned animals and work to save animals from Animal Control facilities where they face euthanasia.

Below highlights some of We Care's work:

- We Care Refuge: A shelter for over 200 homeless animals 365 days of the year. The refuge offers care, medical attention, and a forever home until they are adopted. We are committed to an unwavering no-kill philosophy so once they are rescued they are safe.

- We rescue many elderly, special needs, medically challenged and FIV+ animals. All animals deserve to live, we are committed to a true no-kill policy.

- A No-Cost Stray & Feral Cat Spay/Neuter Program: a preventative approach to reducing homeless cats in the community.

- “Savannah Program”: Shy, under socialized cats facing euthanasia are rescued from Animal Control. After being spayed/neutered and vetted these cats are relocated and adopted to homes where they are welcomed and cared for as outdoor cats.

- Food Assistance Program: We provide cat and dog food to Good Samaritans who feed spayed and neutered cat colonies and dog food to low income individuals.

- Dog & Cat Placement Assistance: Assist in finding new homes for animals whose owners can no longer keep them. Offering referrals, networking, postings & advertising.

- Spay/Neuter Financial Assistance: Available for individuals who cannot afford the costs.

- Lost & Found Network: Helps reunite pet owners with a missing pet.

- Counseling Assistance: Support and guidance with pet behavioral issues. We try to help individuals work through challenges and keep their animal in their homes and out of shelters.

- Maintaining an extensive Animal Advocate e-mail Network: A vast network of individuals and animal rescues reaching beyond Napa County assisting in the placement of any animal in need. This resource saves many animals lives. We assist with transport and adoptions to secure a safe and loving home for needy animals.

Dog adoption and cat adoption saves lives. Adopt a dog or adopt a cat and you'll have a friend for life! What is the difference between adopting a dog, adopting a cat, adopting a kitten or adopting a puppy versus getting dogs for sale, cats for sale, puppies for sale or kittens for sale from a dog breeder or a cat breeder? When someone is breeding puppies or breeding kittens, they are creating new dogs and cats who need homes. Some people are interested in a very specific breed of dog, cat, puppy or kitten and they think the only way to find that specific breed is to buy a dog for sale or buy a cat for sale from a puppy breeder or a kitten breeder. Yet animal shelters are filled with dogs and cats who must find homes. So rather than buying a dog or puppy for sale from a dog breeder or buying a cat or kitten for sale from a cat breeder, we encourage people to adopt a dog, adopt a cat, adopt a puppy or adopt a kitten at their local animal shelter, SPCA, humane society or pet rescue group.
