Rescue FAQs

East Coast Humane Society takes pets from many sources including, but not limited to owner surrenders, high kill shelters and commercial breeding facilities. We are not government funded such as Animal Control or Animal Shelters. Our adoption fees cover the costs for all the pets in our rescue. We are a foster based rescue group. Our pups are in homes and not in a building. We do not have a building for you to come see or meet a puppy. Our volunteer foster families will bring pups to events to be adopted to pre-approved homes. Please visit our website for additional information www.eastcoasthumanesociety.com
East Coast Humane Society has foster homes from FL to ME. We adopt everywhere between and offer transport throughout the north eastern states, except in RI, MA and NH due to state laws prohibiting adoptions there. We feel that compassion should not be based on geographical location and we choose to help dogs in multiple states.

Additional adoption info

We process you your application, usually within 7 business days. It can be less, it can be longer.
You are sent an email with information on how to proceed if APPROVED or an DENIAL email if your application is not approved. There can be many reasons for a denial; vet reference, no fence, restriction in HOA rules, proper housing, etc.
We do not disclose why as we want honest answers for our rescue and others.
