We are an exotic bird sanctuary service Texas, primarily the Dallas Fort Worth area. We are a sanctuary, rather than just a rescue because many of the birds will spend the rest of their lives with use. When possible birds are placed in flocks of like kinds, n large outside aviaries. In extreme weather we have a heated and air conditioned 900 sq. foot "bird house" with kitchen and bath, and several flight cages are heated in winter.
I am Jean Gibson a retired nurse, living on five acres in horse country. I did not choose birds, they chose me. My husband and I were wild bird rehabber for many years. Got out of that for a year, when we were asked to help a woman by taking her exotic bird. Many of our birds are from the ill, even moribund owner, who can no longer care for the birds. We encourage visiting their bird, after surrender if they are able. We have done several special needs companion placements, and do a monthly educational program for the public in our area, in a location provided by the town. We do educational programs in elementary schools, and in support of other rescues. Our mascot is a very social hyacinth macaw, and he attracts alot of attention, especially since the movie Rio came out.

Come Meet our Pets:
The first weekend of every month we are at the First Monday Grounds, in Weatherford TX, all day saturdays and half a day sundays. Call to make an appointment to come to our home, the sanctuary to meet all the birds.
Our Adoption Process:
We ask for a completion of an adoption application, an adoption donation, amount dependent of bird, we strive to have the bird choose the human. We do home visits to prevent adopting to hoarders. And ask for a visit here to tour the sanctuary and get to know the potential adopter. When a bird is chosen we give out a list of website for education of the type of bird and how to care for it.
birds can make wonderful pets, and rather than buying a bird for sale or finding a bird breeder, adopting a bird from
an animal shelter or rescue organization is the perfect way to add a bird to your family.
Keep in mind, there is a lot you will need to know when you provide a home for
a bird. You will need to learn what to feed them, how much exercise or
attention your bird needs, and many other important things about how to
house and care for a bird. There are different types of birds
including African Grey, Amazon, Brotogeris, Budgie, Button Quail, Caique, Canary, Chicken, Cockatiel, Cockatoo, Conure, Dove, Duck, Eclectus, Emu, Finch, Goose, Guinea Fowl, Kakariki, Lorikeet, Lovebird, Macaw, Mynah, Ostrich, Parakeet - Other, Parakeet - Quaker, Parrot - Other, Parrotlet, Peacock, Pheasant, Pigeon, Pionus, Poicephalus (including Senegal and Meyer's), Quail, Rhea, Ringneck, Rosella, Softbill - Other, Swan, Toucan, and Turkey.
Pet adoption saves lives. Adopt a pet and you'll have a friend for life! Please consider a rescue pet before you buy a pet from a breeder or pet store. Contact us, or contact another local humane society, animal shelter or SPCA.
