Glendale Humane Society's adoption process
Additional adoption info
Adoption Process:
Glendale Humane Society is dedicated to rescuing and caring for unwanted and abandoned companion animals and placing them in loving, permanent new homes. We strive to carefully match our dogs and cats to appropriate households. We call this our Second Chance Program.
The addition of a new companion animal should be considered a lifelong commitment. We require all family members to meet any dog or cat you wish to adopt from us. Having everyone in the household participate in the process lessens the chances of our animals being returned to us due to avoidable conflicts.
Canine Adoption Package includes:
Spay/Neuter
Vaccinations: DA2PPv, IN Bordetella and Rabies
Parasite treatment
HomeAgain/AVID microchip
Canine Parenting Class
One hour private training session with a GHS dog trainer
Feline Adoption Package includes:
Spay/Neuter
Vaccinations: FVRCP
FeLV/FIV testing for all cats
Parasite treatment
HomeAgain/AVID microchip

About Glendale Humane Society
Who we are:
Glendale Humane Society is a private non-profit 501(c)(3) humane rescue and education organization, founded in 1924. For more than 80 years, we’ve worked to find safe, loving homes for lost, unwanted and abandoned companion animals in Southern California. We are a no-kill facility. The majority of our animals come from city and county shelters that routinely euthanize adoptable animals due to over-crowded conditions. Once here, these animals remain in our care until placed in loving, permanent homes.
Our Mission Statement:
Glendale Humane Society provides a compassionate no kill haven for dogs and cats while transitioning them into loving permanent homes. We foster a positive relationship between people and their pets through education. As a non profit organization, we rely on private donations and receive no funds from local, state, or federal government. Our goal is to ensure as many dogs and cats as possible receive the second chance for life they deserve.

Find a pet to adopt
Adopt a Pet is the easiest way for you to search for a new pet in Glendale, CA.
Support adoption and rescue. Why go to a dog breeder, cat breeder or pet store to buy a dog or buy a cat when you can adopt?
Why should you adopt?
Dog adoption and cat adoption saves lives. Adopt a dog or adopt a cat and you'll have a friend for life.
What is the difference between adopting a dog, adopting a cat, adopting a kitten or adopting a puppy versus getting dogs for sale, cats for sale, puppies for sale or kittens for sale from a dog breeder or a cat breeder?
When someone is breeding puppies or breeding kittens, they are creating new dogs and cats who need homes. Some people are interested in a very specific breed of dog, cat, puppy or kitten and they think the only way to find that specific breed is to buy a dog for sale or buy a cat for sale from a puppy breeder or a kitten breeder. Yet animal shelters are filled with dogs and cats who must find homes.
So rather than buying a dog or puppy for sale from a dog breeder or buying a cat or kitten for sale from a cat breeder, we encourage people to adopt a dog, adopt a cat, adopt a puppy or adopt a kitten at their local animal shelter, SPCA, humane society or pet rescue group.
