Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Hello!! My name is Simba Lion and I’m a 87 pound, (young) 9 year old AKC purebredlab! My owner turned me in to SCLRR because of a change in their living situation and they provided all my old paperwork (including vaccination history and AKC papers). My birthday is in July 2004. My foster family has been giving me a lot of attention, which I find just delightful! They cleaned me up good and took me to the vet for an extreme makeover (neuter, blood work, dental cleaning, deworming, vaccinations and nail care). I’m very handsome and my fur is shiny and soft. I love giving my foster family cute puppy eyes and flopping my ears forward when they are talking to me (it seems to get me an extra snuggle!).
My foster family continues to help me build up my stamina by taking me for daily walks and playing in the backyard. Playing fetch happens to be my most favorite thing to do. My foster family has young kids (including a baby) and my foster mom says that I’m really good with them! In fact, I love it when the kids play ball with me in the backyard. I have never shown any aggression toward the kids, other dogs, or even a fly for that matter. My foster mom told me she was very proud of me for walking alongside another small dog from the neighborhood without even pulling at the lease or getting too excited. I may turn my head toward barking dogs, but they don’t scare me or overly excite me (which makes me easier to take on walks). I walk well on the leash without pulling much and can even be walked next to a stroller. I’m a slender dog and in great shape with some mild arthritis (as many dogs my age do). This doesn’t stop me from being a happy and active companion. I have been introduced to cats and let’s just say they are not my favorite.
I completely house trained and I know how to sit, stay, lay down and fetch. And, I’m great on the leash or off leash. I sleep calmly all night outside of the crate, but when my foster family leaves the house they prefer that I stay in my crate (which I don’t really like, but they think it’s best) because one time they found me on the couch (oops… I was just trying to make myself at home!). I really enjoy having company during the day so I would do best if someone in my forever family was retired, worked only part-time or from home. I also prefer to be indoors during the day.
I’m starting to get comfortable with the love and attention from my foster family but I’m very eager to meet my forever family so I can truly become part of it. I would love to spend my Christmas with my new FOREVER family!!! Please call your family rep and come and meet me.
