My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

When TMH received the call from the city shelter that they had received a 10
month old Black Lab pup that was so terrified, he was ducking his head at
every loud noise he heard and backing into the corner of his kennel to hide
each time someone new would approach, we knew we had to go meet this boy.
The shelter explained that once the pup was out of his kennel and away from
all the scary noise and chaos inside the shelter, he was a loving, happy pup
that was great on leash, submissive and sweet to everyone he met, and seemed
to love the company of other dogs. But being inside the shelter was
absolutely terrifying for him and fortunately, the shelter workers realized
that this was a great dog who just desperately needed out of the stressful
environment he was in.

Meet Trent and flash forward only 24 hours in a loving foster home. Trent
is a new dog! This approximately 10 month old Black Lab mix was obviously
part of a family. He has quickly crate trained with no accidents in the
house now that he knows the routine, he has shown us that he knows his basic
commands and will eagerly sit for treats, he absolutely adores children and
has not left his human foster sister's side since he arrived, and now that
he is away from all the scary noise and confines of the city shelter, Trent
just wants to run and play as a 10 month old pup should!

Trent must go to an active family who will give him the exercise that any
young pup requires. He is also extremely playful, so we feel he would do
well in a home with another playful dog or children who are old enough to
engage in play with him without being knocked down. Trent does still show
some of the submissive, tentative behavior we saw in the shelter when new
people approach, so it's important that whoever adopts him understands that
he is sensitive to new situations and requires a family that will provide
leadership and structure in order for him to feel safe and secure.

Weighing in at only 50 pounds, Trent is a great size for someone looking for
a Lab-type, but prefers a dog on the smaller side of the breed. He has one
of the cutest faces you could ask for and his sweet, soulful brown eyes tell
the story of a dog who wants so badly to bond with a family who will never
put him through such a traumatizing experience again. If you are looking
for a wonderful family dog that has already been introduced to crate
training, basic commands, and children; a dog with lots of energy that wants
to run and play and wear out the kids or another energetic dog that needs a
buddy, then look no further than Trent!

The family who gave him up lost out on a wonderful dog and we have assured
him that his next family will be worthy of such an amazing family member!
