Gerda's Story...
Gerda is a gorgeous black and tan (mostly black) miniature Dachshund that came to us from a local shelter. Gerda is between 7 and 8 years old and she weighs 12 lbs. She is very spunky and always ready for fun! She loves going for walks and car rides as much as she likes playing with squeaky toys. She gets along great with other dogs but does not like it when they get in her food. Gerda is a very well behaved Dachshund lady, she does not bark, she is very smart, listens very well to commands and she is always eager to please her person. Gerda has been spayed, she is current on vaccinations including Rabies, she tested negative for heartworm and is on heartworm/flea prevention, she is micro chipped and she had a dental. If you are interested in adopting Gerda please fill out and adoption application on our web site www.inthenest.net (make sure you write something in each bar or it won't go through.) Gerda's adoption fee is $100. No children under 10 please.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Gerda, a Bloomington Dachshund dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Dachshund for sale in Bloomington, or seeking a Dachshund dog from a breeder in Bloomington.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Bloomington already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Bloomington breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Dachshund breeders who help with Dachshund rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Bloomington paves the way for another one to be saved.
