Kate & Allie are best friends and were found running around together in Baldwin County, AL. It appears that the girls were once someone’s pets since they are both housebroken, but sadly, no one came looking for these sweet angels. Thus, the shelter called SGRR to find them a forever home - together. We believe Kate and Allie are sisters because you feel like you are seeing double when you look at the girls – they look that much alike! Allie has a little pink splotch on her nose that helps distinguish the girls apart. Allie is a wee bit taller and thinner, and Kate is the one who enjoys her meals most! These Golden/Lab girls are about 1.5-2 years old.
Kate and Allie are very bonded to each other. Allie is especially dependent upon Kate and will not even go outside to potty without her BFF. Both girls are on the shy side but warm up to being petted and getting their bellies rubbed! Kate made friends with one of our volunteers when they were taking photos of the girls. She snuggled up to her and tucked her head under Martha’s arm to cuddle. Since coming to SGRR in mid-December, the girls have really started to blossom. You can see in their video that their tails are always wagging and they crave human companionship! When our volunteer returns Kate and Allie (pink collar) to their kennel, you can see the pleading in their eyes that seems to say, "Take us home with you!" The bobbsey twins will do best in a quieter home where they can feel relaxed, gain more confidence, be showered with TLC, and unpack their bags. They are praying for a home where they will be loved and adored.
The girls are good with other dogs, like children, and they are pretty good on a leash. They hesitated a bit when getting into the car but once inside, they rode nicely and enjoyed looking out the window. Kate has completed heartworm treatment and the pair are now in a wonderful foster home in MA. Their foster dad has commented that when one of the girls gets up to go to another room, the other dog follows. He has two dogs beds for the girls, one for each dog, but Kate and Allie prefer to snuggle up together on one bed!

About Our Rescue
Before being approved to adopt, all potential adopters need to complete our online application and participate in our pre-adoption review process. The process includes the completion of an online application, a reference from the applicants' vet, a phone interview, and a visit to the applicants' home. The application process helps us determine what type of Golden would be best suited for the applicants' life style. In some cases, the specific dog you are interested in may have found a home before this process is complete or further assessment may find that this dog is not the right match for your family. We are regularly getting new Goldens in need of a home, so we encourage you to apply and get approved so that when the right dog comes along you will be ready.
A contract is signed the day of adoption. Under the terms of the contract, all adopters are required to bring the rescue to a vet within 7 business days. The dogs receive basic veterinary care prior to adoption. If your vet identifies an illness that an adopter is not willing to treat, then the dog is returned and a full refund is provided.
The information provided on each dog is based on observations of our vets, volunteers, fosters and when available, trainers. While we do our best to report any and all issues, SGRR does not make any guarantees as to the health or temperament of any dog. Dogs evolve differently in different environments and we cannot predict with any certainty how the dog you adopt will act in your home.
Many of our dogs are fostered in private homes and we do not have a facility to visit. We are committed to our dogs before, during, and after adoption! The rescue retains title to the dog and can never be released or sold. Should the adopters no longer be able to keep the dog, SGRR must be notified so that we can take the dog back into rescue and place it into another home. We reserve the right to remove a dog at any time should we find the adopter is no longer caring for their Golden in a way we see fit. Adopters then have to agree to follow up visits as needed.
