My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

We have a pair of female rats who are looking for their forever home. Their names are Jade and Ginger. These rats must be adopted out as a pair.

These rats are almost 2 years old (will be 2 years in July). Ginger is the beige hooded and Jade is the black berkshire.

These girls are good rats. They are a bit shy, but are coming around and are gladly coming to the front of the cage to see what’s up and to take treats from your hand. They are doing much better now that they have more interaction with people, and are learning that people are “good.” They do well with being handled and petted, but are a bit unsure of being picked up. They are doing better than when they arrived, they just need to continue to be handled so they learn that people are not going to drop them. Once they are in your hands and feel secure, they do fine with being handled and petted. They do not bite. They are sweet girls.

As with all our rescues, these rats will come with some food to start you out (a baggie of lab blocks as well as baggie of their dry mix, one per rat), and a printed out version of our rat care packet. We also have additional supplies for sale -- many of the things we sell for chinchillas work great with rats as well (they like the hidey houses, the hammocks, and so on), and we also sell lab blocks at $1.25/pound.

Regardless of past rat experience, all potential homes will be asked to read our rat care packet and fill out our adoption application/rat questionnaire. If you are unwilling to do this, please do not waste our time or yours. No rat will go to a new home without an adoption application being filled out - no exceptions.

These rats are located in Munster, Indiana (zip code 46321).

2014 sale! 14% off all adoption fees. Adopt this pair of rats for $13.
