My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Tristan: 4 to 6 yr old male bronze and white Norwegian Forest Cat

March Update: Well this boy went home sooner that we all expected.
And he came back sooner than we expected too. His adopter was local
and she just came over to meet him with no plan to adopt him right
then and she fell hard for him and she wanted him then and there so
she borrowed a carrier and off they went.

Well, it was too soon for her and her kitty. They had just lost a
very precious kitty companion and she and this remaining kitty were
still grieving. Wonderful Tristan did nothing wrong at all, he was
great and after not eating well the first few days he settled in
nicely in the part of the house that was temporarily set aside for
him. He was happy to see his human and looked forward to cuddling
with her. The resident cat could smell him and she, a calico, made
very clear her displeasure. She pulled away from her owner who
became emotional and upset feeling as though she had lost both her
kitties. She felt the timing was wrong for a new cat, however
wonderful, and despite my suggestion she wait a bit ,in less than two
weeks she asked to bring Tristan back.

Timing is everything. I just want to be clear this sweet, sweet boy
came back through no fault of his own at all. He was great, very
loving to the owner, eating and drinking and using his litterbox and
he was comfortable and not really concerned with the other cat. What
he needs is lots of love and deep connection with his human whether
there is another cat in the home does not matter to him. He would be
happy to be an only cat or to live with other cats as long as his
contact with his human(s) is frequent and loving.

Original Posting: Well he is a sad boy. You can see it in his expression. His owner died and his world collapsed so quickly and in the shelter where he was left he was really shut down, just so unhappy. I bet his owner loved him so much. Being scared and shut down in the shelter means he was not able to go up for adoption and than means euthanasia if rescue won't or can't take him. Since my two great Forest Cats, Sammy and Sebastian, were just adopted ( and now in Montana ) I was Forest catless I said yes to him right away.

He had two weeks in boring isolation since he had come from a shelter and may have been incubating a cold ( he wasn't ) and during that time he stayed up in his loft in a skylight and paid little attention to us. Now surrounded with humans and activity he is coming around.
He opens up a little more each day and it is fun to watch, he is such a great cat.

Tristan is a BIG cat, as he should be. A little over 20 pounds. Of course he has the green eyes and pink nose that seem to characterized the Forest cats. However he has a bronzy caramel color on his back that I have never seen on a cat before. It is sort of a rich brown with a little red in it. Very unusual and nice. You can see he is a big ball of soft fur, he has a very nice full coat and was clearly well taken care of.

The shelter offered to do a dental on him for us but they found his teeth were so new and white they decided he didn't need one and that he was probably younger than they had initially guessed - which was 6 yrs old. We know nothing about his former life, not his name or age, just that his owner died.

Norwegian Forest cats are sort like Maine Coons. They are big.
medium haired. intelligent. loyal family cats. As this sweet boy gets over his grief and upset he will again show his playful side.He already is showing his loving side. I will write more as he unfolds himself.

He eats wet and dry food and is litterbox perfect.

His foster mom is Harriet in Santa Cruz.
