Here's what the humans have to say about me:
My name is Nelson. My foster mom says I was looking for love in all the wrong places, like some country singer named Willie or something like that. That is why I ended up here at FFAR.
Foster mom says that I should tell you a little bit about Yorkies and about me in particular. First you probably need to know that Yorkies have hair rather than fur, which is good because we don’t shed much. Right now my hair is not very long but it will grow. I will need to be brushed regularly if you let it get long otherwise it will matt up which can pull at my skin and hurt. I currently have what is called a “puppy cut”. I like it because it is no muss no fuss, but as you can see it is growing out. I will need to be clipped about every 8 weeks to keep it short.
Yorkies are terriers—we are a playful, independent, loving, spunky breed full of self-confidence and game for anything. Although they tell me I am a small dog and I should just sit on laps and cuddle, I know that I am tougher than I look. Don’t get me wrong—I love to be petted. Foster mom says that I am definitely a snuggler and I like cuddling with my people on a soft warm sofa. But I also love to play—my favorite game is tug of war. Although I am tiny, I don’t give up easily. I think that I can do anything the bigger dogs can do.
During the time I have been at foster mom’s house, I have not had a single accident in my crate. I am not yet totally housetrained—but we are working on that. I didn’t know that I was “broken”, but since they took me to the vet to be “fixed” I am doing better in my housetraining.
I am tired of looking for love in all of the wrong places and I am ready to find love in the right place with a forever family! Remember my name...I'm Nelson!
Anyone interested in our dogs must be over 21. We are only able to adopt to homes within a reasonable driving distance of the dog's foster home and please be prepared for a home visit by one of our volunteers. We do not adopt on first-come-first-served basis, we want to make sure the dog is right for the family and vice versa based on what we know about the dog's personality, habits and behaviors. Our adoption fee for dogs is $165. You can complete an online adoption application on our website http://www.furryfriendsanimalrescue.org- we will get back with you asap.
