Here's what the humans have to say about me:
It is always shocking to us that after having a furry family member for over a year..a family will turn that sensitive guy into an extremely high-kill shelter because they're moving...so sad. You have to wonder about the level of commitment and complete disregard for a life. Clyde absolutely deserves better! Clyde is a long-legged Basenji (most likely with a bit of Chihuahua in there) who would be overjoyed with the prospect of long walks along beautiful Colorado paths. At about 1 year old and 11 lbs, Clyde is a happy and positive guy who has completely left his past traumas behind. Clyde was so devastated by his turn-in to the shelter that he initially refused to be handled and rolled into a ball in his igloo. But with the loving care of his foster family, Clyde has grown into an incredibly well-adjusted guy who is growing sweeter and more affectionate each day! He turns out to be really great on a leash and is overjoyed with the stimulation of touring the neighborhood and practicing his great socialization skills. He loves to learn and is a great student because he tries so hard. Clyde has mastered his house training skills, uses the doggie door like a pro.. and is completely trustworthy! We're searching for a loving and committed family for Clyde that loves to cuddle and enjoys the company of a truly smart and devoted guy. It's very clear that Clyde had never had attention or care until his rescue in January..but his exceptional temperament always shines through. He so naturally wants to please that with positive reinforcement, he will be the most exceptional companion around. We see Clyde with an adult family... or a family with older children... that is active and enjoy spending their time with a devoted furry companion. Clyde loves nothing more than to snuggle down under the blanket with his favorite people with just his little nose sticking out. Clyde is almost completely non-vocal and always pleasant...therefore spending time is a fun and positive experience. Obedience training classes will also create additional family bonding...we strongly suggest this to give Clyde the skills to be the best that he can be. Clyde wants to be a lap dog and a devoted companion with a sense of permanence. There is no question that Clyde has the personality and ability to be an exceptional companion and devoted best friend. Clyde is a non-shedding guy and with baths/brushing and great nutrition, he will have the silkiest coat around. Clyde is being fostered in Denver. Applications are currently being accepted and Meet and Greets are being set up for this loving and sweet-tempered guy
