My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Attention all Beagle lovers! I'm Rupert and I just recently arrived in the Chicago area (from somewhere east of here) and I am ready to have some fun.
I should tell you that I am NOT your typical beagle and probably have some pointer or hound dog mixed in there. That just means I’m taller, longer, and leaner than your average beagle. That’s code for “handsome.” Right now I am 30 pounds and "guesstimated" to be between 8 months and a year old. So be ready for some puppy playing, pouncing, and prowling! I just LOVE to play with other dogs (even the not so friendly Beagle girl I had stayed with) but can occupy myself if no one is around. I am also very gentle for a guy my age.
I have been told that I have very good table manners. I wait patiently while the other dogs are fed and will even stand back until everyone else has their treat before stepping up for mine! I had an accident or two my very first day but I have been very good about going outside since then. I just had to show the other fellas in the house that I was here. I can sleep in a crate at night but I prefer to sleep on a dog bed, snuggle on a couch, or lie beside you on the big bed if you want me to (hint, hint).
I would love to live in a house with another dog or two to play with and keep me company. I do not particularly care for being in a crate during the day (I'll bark and whine for a while), but I think I could get used to it if I have to.
I LOVE to chew on my Nylabones! I can't get enough of them. I also like to run around the big backyard and chase the squirrels. But the best thing is playing “keep-away” with my foster brother’s toys. Foster mom even posted a video of us on YouTube; that makes me a movie star! Talk about fun!
Anyway, if you are looking for a goofy, fun loving, and affectionate puppy you have found your boy! Rupert!

***Temporary Foster's notes: Rupert was with us temporarily (11 days), and he was a wonderful dog. From the moment he walked in he was friendly and playful with our four dogs. He socialized very well, adapted to his new surroundings quickly, and fit right in with our "pack". He enjoys car rides and walks. He will need better leash training but he did not "pull" on his leash. We would have loved to keep him for our own, but FIVE would have been a little too much to handle! His new foster mom and dad may have some other wonderful news to share with you in the future as he settles in with them and their crew. ***
