My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Sir Michael: 4 to 5 yr old Rust and Black marbled Bengal

Well the shelter said "Hey we have this gorgeous bengal here. We think he has been hit by a car. If you can take him, I think we have grant money to do surgery on his hip" Yes Yes yes !!! I said . After another volunteer Amy gave him a couple weeks of caged bed rest for his recovery look who I got.!!

He is a very nice boy. His hip seems to work fine, he climbs and jumps and strolls about looking magnificent so all we need is for his beautiful fur to grow back ( Why do vet's get so shave happy and take so much fur off all the time ?Can yo u imagine shaving off his beautifully patterned soft fur!!! ) Sigh. Time will fix it. He is a lucky boy. We know nothing about how he came to be out and on a collision course with a car - if that is what happened to him.

He has a good body weight and seems to be entirely healthy. Someone fed him and loved him. He is a bit shy or unsettled after all that has happened to him and that is only to be expected. He has been a gentleman through it all tolerating politely what he doesn't like - like being held for his photos to be taken. You can see he is not thrilled. Most bengals prefer not to be held.

So he is settling in and relaxing after his difficult adventure. He eats wet and dry food and uses his box perfectly. I am guessing he is friendly to other cats but perhaps not just now. He shows no particular concern about them at any rate but we have not put him together with them. We haven't had him long and will know him better soon.

By the way We named this boy SIr Michael in honor of Michael Paris, a volunteer who takes wonderful photographs of our cats. Michael has had hip surgery himself.

Sir Michael's foster mom is Harriet in Santa Cruz.
