My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

UPDATE FROM THE FOSTER MOM: Reuben continues to do well in his foster home!! He has quickly picked up on the "routine," and is thriving under the structure and guidance provided by his foster mom. He understands all the boundaries around the house... Including which cats he is and is not allowed to play with!! When the boundaries are relaxed a bit, Reuben jumps (literally) at the chance to snuggle on the couch or bed. He's a great big cuddle-bug!! Luckily, his love for lovin' doesn't impede his ability to follow rules- He only gets on furniture when invited, and gets off whenever he's asked to. Reuben is also a whiz at basic obedience commands (sit, shake, down), and will even give you a double-high-five!! Reuben loves his foster family, but can't wait to find his fur-ever family... He says his ideal "pack" is an active family without small children who can provide him with clear rules and help to set him up for success in their home and day-to-day routine.

MEET REUBEN! He’s a 2-year-old red lab. He was found and spent 3 weeks at the shelter. When volunteers contacted us to ask us to save this boy, we could not resist. Reuben is handsome and fairly big. He needs an active home ready to exercise him, love and socialize him. Reuben unfortunately is HW positive but once he is done will treatment, he will be as good as new.

UPDATE from Foster: Reuben is the most handsome red lab you’ll ever meet! He’s on the “medium” side size-wise, weighing in at around 50lbs. Reuben lives with another dog and three cats, and has met a few of her friends, all with a wagging tail and without fear or incident. He looooves his foster-brother-pup, and is very interested in the cats. Luckily, the cats he lives with know how to handle over-curious pups, but he might make less-dog-friendly-cats uncomfortable. Reuben is such a spunky, sweet boy who is just bursting with personality. He has lots of energy, and is just dying to play… He has likely never heard the word “No!” before he came to his foster-mom’s house, but he’s learning about rules and boundaries very quickly!! He’s also picking up some basic obedience, and really shines when it comes to learning his leash manners.

UPDATE: Reuben has completed his HW treatment and he is doing great. He is currently in a foster home and he is thriving. He is doing great with the cats (he ignores them) and loves his four legs foster brother so much, in fact, that we have a hard time keeping him quite. A few more weeks or being quite and then he will finally be ready to run and play! We are so happy Reuben is doing so well.
