My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi! My name is Shelby! I am about 8 years old. My foster mom says that I am a Terrier mix. She thinks that I might be mixed with Corgi or Sheltie? She's not really sure, but she says that I am as cute as can be! Many people ask my foster mom how I ended up being a "Shelter Survivor". Here's my story.... I lived with a family my entire life. My family included a mom and a dad, children, and I even had 2 canine family members that I lived with too. My family lost their home, so I lost my home :0( They couldn't take me and my other canine family members with them (I call them my canine siblings, but we were not really related by blood; we just lived together for years). They moved to an apartment that wouldn't allow us; so we almost ended up in the shelter. My family reached out to Shelter Survivors and the volunteers at Shelter Survivors gave my family a hand and they took the 3 of us in. My one canine "sibling" was adopted out very fast! Sadly, my other canine sibling suddenly became very ill. She crossed over the rainbow bridge. I was very sad that day, so another volunteer took me to her house so that I could make friends with the canines in her home. I love my new foster family! My foster family loves me too! My foster mom says that I am a real trooper. Despite all of these changes, I've adjusted very well and I have been able to stay happy! She says that I "roll with the punches". I'm not sure what that means, but I do like to roll over for belly rubs! I know all of my basic commands, like sit, stay, come, and lay down. I might be 8 years old, but I still love to play! I like to go for walks; I love a good game of fetch; and I really love to play tug! When I'm done playing, I just want to cuddle next to you or at your feet so that I can take a little rest. I'm a very easy going gal. My foster mom says that I will fit into any family situation. I like other dogs; but I don't mess with them. I give off a calming energy, so most dogs like me too. I like children; I just want to give them kisses. As a matter of fact, I will give everyone kisses! I have never met a person that I don't like! I know everyone loves puppies, but just think... if you adopt me, you don't have to go through all of the chewing, the peeing, the nipping... all of those things that puppies do! I only chew on my toys and my bones, I know that I need to go outside to go to the bathroom, and I don't nip! AND I'm just as cute and sweet as any puppy out there! I'm full grown; although my foster mom tells me that I need to lose a few pounds, I'm still a small dog, so I won't take up a lot of room. Watch out though, I will probably fill your heart and home with love :0)

If you'd like get some sweet kisses from Shelby (and provide the stable and loving home that Shelby deserves), please fill out an application and come meet her at our next adoption day event.
Shelby is spayed, house trained, up to date with shots, and microchipped.
