Hi beagle lovers! My name is Sherlock and I’m a distinguished gentleman from Michigan who just finished treatment for heartworm. My foster mama and dad think I’m one of the coolest pups ever. I’m a happy-go-lucky sort of guy who just likes to lie around and sleep. I don’t like to be picked up and sit in laps, but I do like to stay where the humans are, either curled up on a blanket nearby or sitting next to you. I love to perch on my back legs for some extra ear scratching, and if you stop before I'm satisfied, I’m going to nudge you with my chubby paws or nose to make you keep going.
My tail is always wagging because I’m such a happy pup and I have the funniest mark on my fur. My mama thinks it’s an arrow pointing to my tail just in case the humans don’t notice how much it wags, but others think it looks like a bat, so I might really be Batman’s sidekick in disguise! I do a great happy dance when my humans get home from work. I actually spin and run in a few circles, which make everyone laugh because I’m a tiny bit chubby. Foster dad says it just means I’m doing well in life.
I’m almost housebroken. I can hold it for long periods of time, but I sometimes mark because of the other boys in the house. I’m crate trained and sleep in my crate at night. Foster mom leaves me in her room during the day. I’m a sneaky chewer so you’ll have to watch me with that, but I’m so cute that foster mama never gets mad. I've been relaxing lately because of my treatment, but in the next few weeks or so, I’d love to start going on walks again. I'm super slow because I love to sniff and I need a harness because I'm a puller but I should get better with some training and regular, gentle exercise.
Note from foster home: Sherlock would be all right as an only dog or with another laid back dog. He has a really loud bark which he uses at meal time, and if we leave the house. He doesn’t have separation anxiety, but he protests a little when you first leave, so he would not be good in an apartment.
