My basic info
Here's what the humans have to say about me:
We have a pair of female rats up for adoption. Their names are Pretzel and Gerogia (that is not a spelling error). Pretzel is an agouti hooded rat that is around 1 year old. Gerogia is a bad black / agouti Berkshire that is around 2 years old.
Both rats are very sweet and LOVE you if you have treats. They love yogies and yogurt drops. And really, almost anything else they can get their mouths on, these girls are not picky. They are very sweet rats. They are not fond of the sensation of being picked up (would you like being held mid-air with nothing supporting you? Probably not). But once you are holding them, they do fine. You can hold and pet them and they do not bite. They like being petted.
Please note, these rats are only available as a pair.
These rats have been handled since coming to the rescue, and they are not afraid of people. They’re very interested in exploring when they are out of the cage, so they tend to want to climb up your shirt and see what interesting things they can find. Though, they also can settle into your arms comfortably once they relax a bit. None of these rats bite. They all get along with each other well, no scuffles.
As with all our rescues, these rats will come with some food to start you out (our mixed soy-free diet), some chews/treats, and a printed out version of our rat care packet. We also have additional supplies for sale -- many of the things we sell for chinchillas work great with rats as well (they like the hidey houses, the hammocks, and so on), and we also sell lab blocks at $1.25/pound.
Regardless of past rat experience, all potential homes will be asked to read our rat care packet and fill out our adoption application/rat questionnaire. If you are unwilling to do this, please do not waste our time or yours. No rat will go to a new home without an adoption application being filled out - no exceptions.
