My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi! My name is Duke B, and I am a beautiful, two-year-old, 72-pound, chocolate lab. I am purebred and very handsome. I am super enthusiastic about everything that is new around me. I like to explore my surroundings and I am always ready for a good walk or a stroll at the park.

I would prefer to go to an active family that will exercise me regularly. I love going out for long walks or hikes. I would make a great jogging partner. I have good leash manners. Once I had my exercise for the day, I will settle pretty well in the house.

I am just settling into the routine of living with a family who gives me consistent, loving care, and each day I become better behaved. I am still a work in progress though; I need to continue to learn the ropes of becoming a better citizen and I hope that my new family will help me do that because I am so willing to learn. My foster mom thinks that I would benefit from formal training, that sounds like so much fun to me so sign me up for that!!! Most of my issues stem from my enthusiasm – I sometimes jump up on my foster mom to remind her that I want some love. I give back, I promise! I like cuddling and giving soft kisses. Sometimes I cannot resist peeking on the counter to see what’s for dinner. If you hold a sandwich in your hand you can say goodbye to that – oopsy – I just like people’s food so much – don’t blame me for that, you like it too, right?

When I am introduced to other dogs I play the macho man role but if they correct me I back off and mind my own business. This will have to be another chapter of my training class, to be better at introduction with other dogs. Once I get to know them I am all good with them. I currently live with 5 other dogs and they are my buddies.

I am housetrained and I know how to use the doggie door. I’m crated regularly during the day to teach me to quiet down and relax. I sleep in my foster parent’s bedroom at night outside of the crate and I am well behaved. My prospective family should continue the crate training while I’m still in training. I am friendly with kids but I should probably be adopted by a family with kids over 8 years old.

I’m looking for an active experienced dog person/family that will create a routine for me and will continue my training so that I can be the best dog ever!!! I am super excited to explore this world!!!

I’m so excited to share all of my love and affection with my forever family. If you are that family, please contact your family rep and come meet me.
