My story

Howdy partner! They call me Hobbs but I answer to almost anything. I am 8-10 years old and I’m a solid fella, weighing in at ~18 lbs. I am pure dachshund and love to hunt and explore the back yard. I do need a fenced-in yard and I tend to dig when left unattended so I do need supervision and an escape-proof yard. I am great with other dogs, fine with cats, but mostly I am all about my people! I love to cuddle and will follow you everywhere. In fact, if you ignore me, I’m inclined to nudge you to remind you that I’m right beside you. I am playful, happy and my tail never stops wagging. One of my favorite things to do is go for long walks. Although I am 8-10 years old, I have the activity level of a 4-6 year old; full of life! I am house trained and will go in the crate during the day. I’m not very happy in the crate at night but can probably get used to sleeping in a dog bed. I’m always up for an adventure so let me know if you want to meet!

If you are interested in adopting Hobbs, you can fill out an application right on our website! Go to dreamhappytails.org/adoptform.shtml. Hobbs 's adoption fee is $275. All adoption fees go directly to veterinary care for DREAM dachshunds. Hobbs will go to his/her new home microchipped, altered, heartworm tested, and up to date on vaccinations. Most dogs' veterinary expenses are greater than our adoption fees.

DREAM is an all-volunteer rescue group, and we focus on the Atlanta, North Georgia and Savannah area. Because we are all volunteers, we can consider applications only within an hour of these areas. DREAM does not recommend purebred dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a doxie's back.
