My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Kaitlyn is a mixed breed - a terrier and hound combination. We estimate her birthday around May, 2010. She is a mature, docile, and bright young lady. She needs a calm home environment, as she does not appreciate loud, scary noises. Does anyone though? Kaitlyn was a very shy dog when she came in as a stray. She will not be a very outgoing dog but that does not mean that she is not friendly because she definitely is. It took some time but now she is more confident, even taking to a troop of Girl Scouts who have been visiting every week.

We really appreciate your wanting to give a shelter animal a home. The Humane Society of New York was founded in 1904. The Vladimir Horowitz/Wanda Toscanini Horowitz Adoption Center is a no-kill shelter. Our on-site clinic and staff of skilled Veterinarians looks after the health and well-being of every animal here. We offer FREE Vet care for the first 3 weeks after adoption. We also have a great adoption matchmaker who will gladly take your profile and match you or your pet with just the right cat or dog companion. Please feel free to submit your application!
