Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Skater is a Take Me Home courtesy post. Skater is not affiliated with Take Me Home. We have not evaluated him and he is not under our care. Take Me Home is not responsible for any adoptions through private parties. All dogs are spayed/neutered prior to being courtesy posted on our sites. For more information on Skater, please contact the Mission Viejo Animal Shelter at (949) 470-3045.
It is difficult to understand how anyone could leave their loyal companion at a shelter; Even more difficult to understand how someone could abandon that loyal companion after he’s been hit by a car and is suffering in pain; And nearly impossible to understand how someone could do all of this to one of the sweetest, most well behaved dogs the shelter staff has met.
Meet Skater; that sweetest, most well behaved, loyal companion that found himself alone, terrified, and injured, after being hit by a car and then abandoned by the very family he relied on to come to his rescue. Skater’s family walked away and when they did, he was so heartbroken that he would try to crawl into the laps of the only friends he now knows, seeking every ounce of affection and comfort that he can soak up from the loving shelter staff and volunteers who oversee his care. Skater quickly became a shelter favorite with his sweet, soulful eyes, droopy hound-like ears, and mellow, loving personality. But of course the bonds he has created with the shelter staff do not take the place of the permanent, loving home that Skater so deserves.
Despite his broken spirit, Skater has suffered no permanent physical damage as a result of his accident and only shows some minor weakness in his back leg which the shelter is working on strengthening with daily walks. He has received a full medical work up including complete x-rays and has been given a clean bill of health. At the tender age of only 4 years old, Skater has a long life ahead of him and still has the ability to enjoy his walks and play time. He is the perfect companion at the perfect size; not too big or too small, and a breeze to walk on the leash.
He enjoys seeing other dogs on his walks but is also perfectly content just to sit beside his humans and be the loyal, faithful companion that he was born to be. Skater really is that one in a million dog that is so unassuming and asks so little of his guardians. He deserves a family who will be worthy of such loyalty and love!
