My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi!  My name is Riggs and I loved my people very much, but unfortunately they couldn’t take me with them when they moved. My new foster home has a 3 year old husky in residence and we like to play together, take walks and dig in the sand box that my foster parents have setup for digging.  I walk on a leash very well and I am learning that I can relax on the walks and take in the sights, smells and sounds around me.  I am also continuing my command training. I can sit and lay down on command now - I knew these things before, but I needed to get more comfortable with my foster parents.  They are teaching me to come when I am called right now.  I love to sleep through the night at the foot of the bed with the husky as a companion. I love to be petted and I do lean heavily on my foster parents when I want some attention, so they think older children in the household would be good for me.  I haven’t learned how to ask to go out yet, but my husky friend is helping me learn. I haven’t had any accidents in the house since I just go out when he does.

Riggs is three years old, a sweetheart and loves to be active.  He is a bit timid at first and will need some time to get comfortable with any new situation.  He will put the weight he needs back on in a short time and is very healthy otherwise. He loves to lay on his back outside in the grass, watch the kids play next door and play with our dog. They really like running top speed around the backyard until they are tired, then it’s a drink of cool water and a rest before they are ready for more activity.  Riggs needs to be exercised daily and he loves to take rides in the car. He doesn’t play with toys but we are working on that, too.
Riggs will be a great companion when he accepts you as his people. He needs consistency and patience to become that companion.
