One of our exceptional Texas rescuers saved the life of this adorable Yorkie/Terrier mix in hopes of him finding a new and wonderful life in Colorado. Dane is about 1 year to 18 months old and 7 pounds of cotton-coat fluffiness. Dane is such a devoted and smart little guy... a relaxed and lovable Dane has emerged since he's been in his foster home. He has made progress each and every day and has become a well-adjusted guy who is open to new relationships and adventures. It also makes a difference that his energy...and emotional needs..are being met. Dane loves long walks (won't he be perfect for those gorgeous days exploring Colorado walkways?) and playtime that includes periodic hugs, praise and treats that make Dane feel so good about himself and channels his puppy-like curiosity in a positive direction. He's such a fun and silly guy that we hope his new family will choose to spend lots of time enjoying his antics. Every day when Dane's foster mom comes home...she's greeted by an ecstatic Dane..dancing in circles on his hind legs with love and joy. We'd like to see Dane in a home with loving and devoted retirees or a family with older children (after all, Dane weighs only 7 lbs and should be handled gently) that spends lots of time at home...or enjoys taking their furry companion along. Dane is a perfect take-along size guy...it's so easy to just scoop him up and snuggle him under your arm or in a carrier. He enjoys the car and is learning his skills quickly to be trustworthy in all situations. Dane's foster mom is working on his house training..yeah successful... and general house skills to make him the well-behaved and engaged dog he has the ability to be. She speaks of him so highly -- Dane is the sweetest lap dog ever. I just love him and can't get enough of his sweet company--. Dane would do so well in positive reinforcement Obedience 1 class that will create additional bonding with his family on his path to learning behaviors that will make hims a great life-long companion.
Dane is a very lightly shedding guy who will require great nutrition and periodic grooming to keep his cotton-like coat healthy and matt-free. He is not suggested for those with severe allergy challenges.
Dane will be transported to Denver on 7/11. Applications are currently being accepted for this exceptional and very loving family companion.
