Gemma's Story...
Gemma is a 3 year old female akita who originally came to us after her owner was found to be terminally ill and could no longer care for her. Gemma is a very smart girl, she knows her commands and minds well in the home. Gemma loves to play, loves her toys and adored her family who she misses very much. We feel Gemma should go to an adult home as a only pet and prefer her to have a secured fenced in-yard. This is a gal who is truly heartbroken over the loss of her family and has since become somewhat withdrawn so she will need time to slowly form that special bond with her new owner.
If you are interested in Gemma, please go to our website and fill out an adoption application. This sweetheart won't be around long!

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Gemma, a Toms River Akita dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Akita for sale in Toms River, or seeking a Akita dog from a breeder in Toms River.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Toms River already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Toms River breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Akita breeders who help with Akita rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Toms River paves the way for another one to be saved.
