My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Red, a Chihuahua/Pug mix who is about 6 years old. She is microchipped and up-to-date on vaccines. Red is also on year-round heartworm prevention. This little girl would love to be someone's lap dog. She and her sister were dumped in a yard and were very afraid. Red has learned how to trust people after she gets to know them (food is the way to her heart). Due to her rough start she has some anxiety that requires medication and patience. She currently is being fostered with multiple small dogs, a couple larger dogs and two cats. Red would be happiest in a home with older children or adults and possibly a canine friend. She is crate trained and uses a doggie litter box when kenneled. If you are interested in more info about Red, please call Stephany at 248-736-0879.

Adoption and Foster Care Application

Adoption Process: Complete the application at www.pawsforliferescue.org. We then arrange a location, date and time for you to meet some pets. If the meeting goes well and everyone is happy, you begin the mandatory, minimum two-week adjustment period with the pet as part of your family. You will pay the non-refundable adoption fee at the start of the two-week adjustment period. This pending period allows your new dog or cat time to adjust to their new home, new people, new routine, etc., and for you to decide if it's a match and the right pet for you. At the end of two weeks (some people extend the adjustment time as needed and that's fine too), if everyone is happy, then we finalize the adoption. Feel free to email if you have any questions.
