My name is Beautie and I am a 4 yr. old beagle mix that recently arrived at Penny Angels. I am possibly mixed with pug and I’m available for adoption. Let me tell you how I ended up in Rescue: I was found as a stray by a kind Police Officer and taken to a shelter in Newark, NJ. The shelter veterinarian assessed me and noticed several bare patches on my back that she said were possibly due to scalding. The shelter people took good care of me for a month and tried to find another Rescue to take me; unfortunately, this Rescue refused and told the shelter that I was UGLY and that no one would want to adopt me. Those sure were harsh words; they judged me without ever having met me! To make things worse, my time was up at the shelter, so when Penny Angels agreed to rescue me, I knew that my luck must surely be changing for the better! Penny Angels didn’t even have to meet me first; they knew that beauty is defined by more than what is visible on the surface, and inner beauty is what truly matters! The people at the shelter saw something good in me and worked hard to make sure that other people saw it, too!
I am a sweet girl that is curious in nature. I am a little shy when I first meet people, but then I do warm up to them. I get along well with other dogs and have already made some new doggie friends in Rescue. I am spayed and vaccinated, and only weigh about 18 lbs. My hair is starting to grow back, too, but some scars will remain.
The volunteers in Rescue enjoyed meeting me at Petsmart on Saturday and I enjoyed meeting them, as well! Now I have to find a way to capture the heart of my new owner. Hopefully someone special sees my inner beauty, falls in love with me, and decides to share their life with me!
