My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

There's nothing quite like puppy energy and silliness...and then they lie quietly on your shoulder breathing their warm baby breath. They're so pure and vulnerable that it's unbearable to think of them in a high-kill shelter! Angie, at only 10 weeks old and about 7 lbs (is estimated to be full grown at about 30 lbs), was facing the end of her life before it ever began. Farfel's Texas rescuers are compassionate and loving and couldn't turn their back on this puppy...they rescued Angie just in time. This sweet and engaging Golden Retriever mix is starting out with great energy...the excellent results of her temperament-testing ended with a transport ticket to Colorado and a new life. She's also incredibly beautiful...with the gorgeous streaks of gold and fawn that have come out since she received a good, sudsy bath after her release from the shelter. Angie is appropriately playful and inquisitive for her young age. She's so smart and very engaging...so typical of a Golden mix. She's also bright and so loving...clearly having no memory of her scary start. Since Angie is just a baby, she's a blank slate just waiting for a kind and patient human to show her the way. She has all the potential in the world to be an awesome companion - she will form firm bonds with her family (as well as other dogs & humans) and learn positive socialization skills through Puppy Socialization Class followed by positive reinforcement group Obedience Classes. It does take time and commitment...yet pays off a thousand times over when you have a dog that can accompany you in the world with appropriate behavior. We're open to Angie finding her forever home with a very active retired couple or individual with lots of energy to train and enjoy a puppy. Angie is great with children as well but we would prefer to place her in a home with older kids that can participate in a gentle yet consistent training regimen.
Angie will be up to date on her vetting. We're hoping that she will be spayed when she arrives from Texas, however a very young puppy like Angie is often deemed too young to fix. If this is the case, Farfel's will cover all costs for Angie to be spayed in Denver to be in line with our commitment to be a part of the solution to pet overpopulation.

Angie will be arriving on transport in Denver on 8/22/2014. If interested in this exceptional and fun companion, please fill out an application at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/ and submit to farfelsapps@gmail.com.
