Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Well, hello there. My name is Ernest, but my friends all call me ERNIE. But please do not get me confused with the famous baseball player or a puppet on TV. I may not be a celebrity, but my foster family thinks that I am a star. That is because I am a perfect gentleman, I mean gentledog. I have won the hearts of all who have met me. I do try to be modest, but how can you not fall in love with my happy demeanor. I am always seen with a broad smile on my face, but that was not always the case. When I first joined up with Rover Rescue, it was apparent that I was not treated well in the past. I was found as a stray dog with ear, skin and teeth issues. Now that all of those have been addressed, I am enjoying loving TLC. And attention, it is the cat’s meow!! I will actually groan and moan with a good petting! My foster mom thinks that I would purr if I could! I am not really a member of the feline family, but a sweet Collie Mix who is on the smaller side. I am the perfect midsized dog weighing in at 48 pounds. I have an adorable coat of white and brown. The vet thinks that I am between the ages of 7 and 9. Before you give up on a dog with some maturity, let me tell you about some of my advantages. I have been around long enough to develop great manners. I know not to jump on people. I get very excited when my people come home or when I know that I am getting to go for a walk, but I know to keep all paws on the ground. I am very good about relieving myself outside, no potty training issues here. I am a great passenger. I love to go for car rides and will sit quietly. I do prefer the front seat if it is available as it has the best views. I LOVE my crate. I will hang out in my crate quietly even when the door is open. I do not mind sleeping in my crate, but my good behavior has awarded me with bedtime in the master bedroom. I sleep contently at the foot of the bed. I take treats ever so nicely. I am not the pushy, try to bite your fingers type and relish a good tidbit. I am not destructive and very respectful of items in the house. I enjoy a great snuggle on the couch, but will wait until I am invited to join you. I am pretty low keyed, not demanding a lot of exercise, but I do enjoy going for long walks and have excellent leash skills. Now you know why my foster mom thinks that I am darn near perfect. I would make a great addition to almost any family. My only vice is younger, rambunctious dogs. I do not necessarily have much patience for the whippersnappers. Geesh! Kids these days need to learn manners from their elders. I get along great with the other middle aged dogs in my foster home, but would rather avoid the hyper tots and teenagers. So I discovered that my name ERNIE means serious. Let me tell you- I am serious about finding a loving home and family to call my own! If you would like to find out more about me, ERNIE, please call Darla at 630-406-9405. The adoption fee for ERNIE is $200 and includes up to date vetting and a certificate for a free microchip! Hurry and call! ERNIE is earnestly waiting to hear from you!
