My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Cashmere 1 1/2 to 3 yr old female, Shaded Seal Point Tonkinese -
Singapura mix

This is a very unusual cat. Last year we had a few Tonkinese or Burmese cats mixed with Singapuras from a breeder. One of out favorite fosters, Xander, was one of them and he looked very much like this girl except he was a little lighter.. So this girl looks to be another of this group. She actually has banded legs like Xander and a shaded ,short silky coat. Her expression is one of intelligence and acute alertness set off by icy blue eyes. The Singapura part of her may account for her small but muscular size and her short silky fur. The Tonkinese gives her her seal point coloring and blue eyes. At least that is what our breed experts are saying. We will never know for sure.

But she is such an interesting cat. People meet her and say, "Wow What kind of a cat is she??" She is so different it is hard to stop staring at her. She is a seal point with her dark head, feet and tail but her fur across the rest of her body is shaded which is to say lighter underneath - if you run your hand backward against the hair's direction it shows a lighter color. She came to me named Cashmere and it suits the feel of her fur very well.

Cashmere's personality is that of a very loving girl, goodnatured, easy going, self contained, playful. She loves attention and is friendly pretty much to everyone. She is not, however, especially cat friendly. She is tolerant of other cats but would not, I think, seek them out for companionship so she would be fine as an only cat. If her home were noisy and chaotic, she would probably just go hide and sleep the time away. An adult home perhaps with older kids would be fine. She has had experience with a chihuahua and was okay with him, though she wouldn't roughhouse with him..

Singapuras are a rare breed not well known but the Tonkinese and Burmese cats have quite a following of those who know them. Cashmere will make an entertaining and very loving companion for some lucky person. I think she would be fine with a human who was out of the house working 5 days a week.

She eats wet and dry food and is litterbox perfect.

More photos soon. She is hard to photograph well.

Her foster mom is Harriet in Santa Cruz.
