My name is Rex!

Border Collie Dog for adoption in Brookings, South Dakota - Rex

I found a new home!
Plenty of my friends are looking
for one too. Find a pet to adopt.

Rex's Info...

I am already neutered, purebred, up to date with shots, not good with dogs, and not good with cats.

Rex's Story...
Rex is a ~2 year old Border Collie. He is a sweetie! He was a stray through our local animal control. He does not like the other dogs here, and does not do well with cats or small animals -he has a high prey/chase drive. He is very smart and knows sit and plays dead (BANG!). He loves to play fetch in our run.
Unlike our cats, our dogs do not stay at the shelter full time. They are kept in foster homes, but come in on Saturdays from 11:00am to 4:00pm. Arrangements can be made to have specific dogs brought in during the week- just give us a call or email to set up a meeting time.

Our adoption fees include the following: all of our dogs/puppies are current on vaccinations (DHPP and Rabies if over 3 months of age) at the point of adoption, dewormed, heartworm tested and current on preventative, treated for fleas/ticks and are spayed or neutered. Our large dog adoption fee is generally $125.00 + tax. Our small dog and puppy adoption fee is generally $160.00 + tax. Adoption fees may vary in special circumstances. Due to space limitations, we do not hold dogs.

You also have the option to microchip your new dog/puppy for only $20. Brookings city pet licenses are also available for purchase for those living in Brookings, SD.

Because we are on a busy street, we require that all dogs leaving the shelter be in a carrier or on leash. All pets remain up for adoption until an approved application is processed and their adoption fee paid.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Rex, a Brookings Border Collie dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Border Collie for sale in Brookings, or seeking a Border Collie dog from a breeder in Brookings.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Brookings already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Brookings breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Border Collie breeders who help with Border Collie rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Brookings paves the way for another one to be saved.
