My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Candy would be such a perfect companion for anyone who is searching for that loving lap puppy. At just 12 weeks old and about 6 lbs (we anticipate Candy being about about 20 - 30 lbs when full grown since she is a Standard Poodle/Shih Tzu...such an unusual mix and such a perfect size for Colorado outdoor fun) she is so portable that she can be a full-time best friend...accompanying her guardians everywhere a puppy is allowed. Through this socialization, Candy will be a bonded and well-balanced adult ShiPoo. It's always amazing to us at Farfel's Rescue that these dogs with great temperaments...as well as so very cute...end up in precarious situations. Candy was a last-minute save for us...she would have been euthanized in a dismal Texas shelter if kind TX rescuers hadn't stepped up. But how could they not have?? This little dog is just so awesome with her whole life lying in front of her...a life in which she can bring so much joy to a special family. Candy, as a young puppy, is a blank slate waiting to learn about the world. With positive guidance, puppy socialization and positive reinforcement obedience classes, Candy will become a well-behaved and very bonded companion. She is an all-time snuggler and will cuddle her way into any heart! Candy may be a bit shy initially and rehoming is challenging for any puppy...but with love and nurturing, she will absolutely shine. We envision Candy with an active, loving family (and a canine friend would be great) who spend lots of time with their furry companion...she would be overjoyed with the friendships. Candy appears to love children and enjoys playing with them...but we would only be open to kids 8+ who can be gentle and understanding that a puppy requires soft and kind handling. For those family members who enjoy walks and time outside in the beautiful Colorado scenery...Candy would love nothing more than to share the experience. She is always up for a walk..fascinated by the activity around her. She breathes in the air...so happy to be free of the dismal shelter environment. Then...maybe her favorite part...it's time to end the day with hugs, belly rubs and a warm spot on the bed beside her favorite people.
As a Poodle/Shih Tzu mix, Candy is a non-shedding pup who will therefore require periodic grooming and great nutrition to keep her silky coat soft and matt free. Since Candy just has a puppy coat, we can't determine if she would be hypoallergenic enough for those with severe allergy concerns.
The Texas vets consider Candy too young to spay. She will be coming in unfixed but Farfel's will be happy to cover all costs at our vet for Candy's spay (at about 18 - 20 weeks) and microchip. She will be up to date in all her vaccinations.

Candy will be arriving on transport in Denver on 9/26. If interested in this sweet puppy who is full of love and personality, please fill out an application at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/ and submit to farfelsapps@gmail.com.
