This little sweetheart is Willie, a 6 month old cocker spaniel/terrier puppy that is hoping for a fresh start in his young life. Willie was turned in by his owners with his two brothers, when the family did not plan for caring for a litter of puppies. There were unspayed/unneutered pets in the home. The puppies were clearly unwanted and it seems that they have not been socialized or handled much at all. With lots of TLC they are coming around, but it will take time. Little Willie has cherry eyes, which is a cosmetic condition that does not cause pain. He is on medication for this which is already helping. To perform corrective surgery on this while he is with us would cause him a lot of unnecessary stress, which is why we are not doing it. Willie is just an adorable little boy that wants nothing more than to nuzzle his head under you to feel sheltered and protected. He loves people that will hold him close and be quiet and calm with him, and let him know that he'll be ok. Willie comes out of his shell once he is outside for a walk and even enjoys sniffing around and checking things out. He does not have any leash-walking experience but he is learning, and he's also learning what toys are. Willie would be fine in a home with other well behaved dogs, but will need a home with no children under the age of 10. This sweet little boy is so deserving of a great home with a family that will love him forever. File#23933 9/16/14
