Here's what the humans have to say about me:
The Cairn Terrier/Border Terrier mix is a perfect combo for those who are searching for an extremely smart and loyal family dog. Of utmost importance...both breeds are famous for their great intelligence, devoted temperaments and extremely loving ways. They're also known to be trustworthy and generally very kind and playful with family members and other dogs. Devin is a very social being and therefore requires a certain number of neighborhood walks (or hikes) with socialization. At any time a fun adventure is the order of the day - count Devin in! These mixes are known to engage joyfully and energetically and then crash on the couch snuggling close to their favorite humans and canines. Devin is an absolutely adorable and sweet guy who favors the intellect of the Cairn while taking on the very engaging qualities of the Border Terrier. Devin appears to be a non-shedding pup (both Cairns and Border Terriers are generally non-shedders) and will therefore require periodic baths/brushing and great nutrition to keep his coat healthy with a golden sheen. As he loses the old hair of his shelter days, Devin's coat will grow in shining and healthy.
Devin's sweet nature is just waiting to be enjoyed and appreciated...he makes close playmates everywhere he goes. Devin is friendly (while perhaps initially shy) and that means everyone he meets has the potential to become a close companion. You know when a loved one approaches, Devin's tail starts the greeting and it wiggles up through his entire body ending in a smile. And if your lap is available, up Devin goes to cuddle and snuggle and let you know the level of his devotion. Devin is such a wonderful being...we think he represents the best qualities of the Terrier breed. At about 12 - 24 months old and just about 8 - 10 lbs, Devin seems to have completely left behind the neglect and lack of love that made up his early life. He has become a fuzzy ball of good-will that loves to please. The happier his family is with his behavior, the more he shines with his accomplishments. We would like to see Devin in a home that includes him in family time and activities...he'd love to be involved and would thrive in a family that truly loves him and considers him a very important member.
Devin would be a wonderful companion for retirees who have the time and desire to be best friends with a truly adorable young dog. Devin would be overjoyed to accompany his favorite people to the park, hiking beautiful Colorado trails and even just riding shotgun running errands. Devin doesn't require another dog to be happy.(as long as he gets both physical exercise and mental stimulation from his people). He does enjoy his canine relationships with kind and gentle dogs.
We've requested...and expect.. that Devin will be neutered prior to transport. If that isn't the case, Farfel's is happy to pay for his neuter and microchip if our vet is used.
Devin will arrive on transport in Denver on 10/3. If interested in this loving and devoted companion, please fill out an application at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/ and submit to farfelsapps@gmail.com.
