Dempsey's Story...
Meet Dempsey, a sweet, orange male kitten born at a Chicago shelter in May 2014. He and his family (mama cat Yaya and siblings Ali and Lahm) were taken into a Hyde Park Cats foster home in June. And while his sister and brother have already been adopted, Dempsey still needs a home to call his own. (As does fabulous mama cat Yaya).

Dempsey just cannot get enough play time with stick and feather toys. He is also easygoing and friendly with people. He gets along great with the other cats in his home and we would like to see him be adopted to a home with a resident cat or along with one of our other available kittens as we find kittens do better when they have feline companionship!

He is being fostered in Chicago's Hyde Park.

Please contact us at hydeparkcatsadoptions@gmail.com if you are interested in meeting Dempsey.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Dempsey, a Chicago Domestic Shorthair cat was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Domestic Shorthair for sale in Chicago, or seeking a Domestic Shorthair cat from a breeder in Chicago.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Chicago already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Chicago breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Domestic Shorthair breeders who help with Domestic Shorthair rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Chicago paves the way for another one to be saved.
