My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Baylor comes to us from Fulton Co AC. He is about 8 yrs old. As you can see, he is very, very thin. He has a 4/6 heart murmur. He spent 3 days at VVL because when he first came in he was in sort of rough shape. He had bloody diarrhea (not Parvo thank GOD!), his white blood cell count was very high, his red blood cell count was low, and other blood work was out of whack as well. He had a convenia injection and has been on some other meds to help with the diarrhea.

He is already neutered. He will need a dental as soon as he is strong enough and will go back to VVL on Thurs or Fri to have blood work rechecked and to get his rabies vaccine (wasn't healthy enough for that). He will also need a DHPP booster in a couple of weeks.

Blood work Sat morning was better (not perfect, but better) so he was able to leave VVL and go to foster home. Baylor is a super sweet boy!

If you are interested in adopting Baylor, you can fill out an application right on our website! Go to dreamhappytails.org/adoptform.shtml. Baylor 's adoption fee is $325. All adoption fees go directly to veterinary care for DREAM dachshunds. Baylor will go to his/her new home microchipped, altered, heartworm tested, and up to date on vaccinations. Most dogs' veterinary expenses are greater than our adoption fees.

DREAM is an all-volunteer rescue group, and we focus on the Atlanta, North Georgia and Savannah area. Because we are all volunteers, we can consider applications only within an hour of these areas. DREAM does not recommend purebred dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a doxie's back.
