My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

FOSTER LOCATION: Boise, ID

This adorable boy was abandoned at about 6 weeks of age under a truck in small remote town in Washington. A kind soul found him and took him to the vet’s office. When he was not claimed one of the vet techs contacted Fuzzy Pawz asking for help.

Now named Koda this adorable little Corgi/Chihuahua mix is a fearless high energy pup who is a ton of fun. We are going to guess he will be about 15-20 pounds as an adult; but this and his breeds are just our best guess.

Koda is very smart and crates himself for naps and sleeps through the night crated as well. In his foster home potty training is going great, he is such a quick learner! Even as a small breed 12 week old puppy he has been able to sleep through the night and have no accidents during the day. It helps that his foster mom keeps him on a strict schedule which is essential for early potty training. This cutie is also learning a ton of other things, like sit, lay down, wait and to take treats nicely.

He gets along well with other dogs of all sizes and is good with cats; though he does love to play with the cats. Koda can be a bit of a rough player with small dogs and cats but will take correction nicely and redirect himself. This little guy is not afraid to self-entertain so he will need a diligent owner who will supervise him and make sure he stays out of trouble. He is currently being walked 2.5 miles a day and can keep up with the big dogs with no problem.

Despite all the activity that this little man enjoys he is also a cuddler and loves to lay with you and snuggle. His new family will need to remember that in order to stay the sweet, social boy he is that he needs rules, limits and boundaries – this is no purse dog! We know that everyone’s first instinct is going to be to carry him around all the time (he is freaking adorable), but that will turn Koda into a bitey little brat when he is an adult.

He would do best in an active home that will make him a part of their daily routine. Please no children under the age of 5 (due to Koda’s size) and he would not do well in a home that is sedentary. He will need a family willing to continue his training using positive reinforcement methods and keep up on his socialization.

If you are looking for a new best friend please complete an adoption application at http://fuzzypawzrescue.com/adopt/adoption-application-2/

Koda will need to be neutered by the adoptive family by January 2015. Due to the fact that Koda is too small to neuter right now we do require that the adoptive family sign a contract stating that Koda will be neutered by our specified date. They are also required to pay a $100 refundable neuter deposit which will be returned upon proof of neuter.

There is a $100 adoption fee plus the $100 refundable deposit ($200 due at time of adoption).
