My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

This adorable little guy is Chewie, a 10 year old shih tzu mix that came to us from our Newark facility in the hopes of getting a great home. Chewie was turned in to our Newark facility by his family because they were moving. Chewie was in horrific condition when he was turned in. He was matted so badly that he could barely walk. He looked as if he had not had a bath or grooming in years. Chewie went straight to the medical department where he was examined, then the difficult work began of removing years of neglect from his coat. Unfortunately the matting was so bad on his legs that the circulation was cut off, and Chewie's front leg is now deformed because of this. He walks with a limp but Chewie is getting around great and is absolutely loving life these days. He is just so happy to be clean, cared for, and treated with love and kindness, and he is making so many friends. Chewie is so outgoing and friendly, and never met anyone he didn't like. He is so gentle and sweet, and enjoys going for strolls with his new friends, and really enjoys when they carry him around like a baby. Chewie would love a quiet home without a lot of commotion, where he can kick back and relax. He doesn't seem to mind other dogs as long as they're easy going like he is. Chewie is ready to start over with a family that will love him always and never let any harm come to him again. File#23786 8/6/14
