My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Bandit: 6 yr old male Brown Spotted Bengal

This boy has the longest legs of any cat I have ever met .Most of the time Bengals aren’t really big cats. Well Bandit is unusually big. He has long legs , a long tail and a long body. He definitely grabs your immediate attention. "Oh my god look at him” He is high off the ground and that is especially what is so surprising about him. I expect he could put his front legs on the edge of a countertop and look over the edge.

He happens to be a very nice boy. He is interested in attention from humans and has a sweet, good nature. On the video I saw of him before I agreed to take him into foster a child was pulling him into the picture by pulling him backwards by his tail. ( That is pretty good natured! ) ( Of course I had to take him to foster after seeing that). Bandit also has a mischievous nature. He can, for example, open lever door knobs. ( child’s play! ) Keeping up with him is going to be a big job for his new human or family. He is VERY smart. And willful. And sweet. And persistent. And extremely athletic. And gorgeous.

He will probably want to go outside in his new home. It will take planning and commitment to keep him safe inside. If he were mine I would build him a fully enclosed outside catio.-which is to say carefully built wire grid walls and wire grid roof and a concrete foundation where the walls come down to the ground. .You could put tree branches and aerial walkways in i and so forth. He would love it. And you can say “Go out and play” and let me get my computer work done.

He is a lot of cat. He will be a lot of work and he will be enormous fun for the right family. But one must not choose to give a home to this boy casually. This is a big decision.

He is not particularly cat friendly so he will need to be the only cat in his home. He has lived with big dogs and they would probably be great play companions for him. He has lived with lots of children. My worry about children is not how he would treat them but it wold be whether or not they would be consistent about keeping him inside.

He has been outside. We know this. As a one yr old he was hit by a car and his pelvis was broken. It healed on its own but it is not exactly as it was. This new slight bend in it narrows the passageway for his colon . He came to us constipated and as we figured out his story we learned he needs a very consistent diet which includes canned pumpkin, which he likes, and a high fiber food and a medication to move things along. He has done fine with this diet, we have good poop everyday . He has gained weight and could still gain a bit more. His coat has improved as his nutrition has improved and he looks beautiful.

I will get some more photo’s of him. Most of the pictures I took were a blur. He is in motion except when he is asleep.

Someone will be lucky to live with this extraordinary cat. It needs to be someone who wants to have this beautiful boy be at the very center of their life. This is true of most devoted bengal lovers; they are all about their cats. Take that thought and multiply it by 2 for Bandit. You will need to outsmart him and that is saying a lot. It is a privilege to be around him.

He eats high fiber food and is almost litterbox perfect.

His foster mom is Harriet in Santa Cruz.
