Meet Russell!
Russell is a 6-year-old beagle mix/basset hound mix. He is such a sweet boy -- very friendly and laid-back. He enjoys his naps just as much as you and I. This handsome boy is missing several teeth, but it doesn't seem to bother him one bit!
His real personality comes out as soon as he steps outside and his paws touch the grass. Russell loves to run and explore, sniffing and romping around the yard with pure joy and a huge grin on his face. You can't help but smile yourself just watching him!
When indoors, Russell enjoys lounging or cuddling with his canine foster siblings. He's submissive toward other dogs and people; while he's initially a bit shy, he warms up quickly. New challenges also can make him a bit nervous -- going up and down the stairs by himself was scary at first! With the help of his loving, patient foster family he's now mastered it.
Because he loves being -- and wandering! -- outdoors, Russell would do best in a home with a fenced-in yard. His only other requirement is a patient and loving forever family!

About Canine Cupids
Canine Cupids is a rescue in Milwaukee that is comprised of volunteers who have been fostering for various organizations and volunteering at our local animal control. Canine Cupids focuses on Milwaukee’s homeless dogs, but will always help a dog in need when we can — regardless of location.

Our Thoughts on Visual Breed Identification
Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable. For most of our adoptable Cupids we are only guessing at the predominant breed or breed mix. We think it’s most important is to get to know each dog as an individual! We then do our best to describe each of our adoptable Cupids based on their personalities in order to determine whether they’ll make good companions based on prospective adopters’ lifestyles. Dog behavior is not exclusive to breed — it’s a complex mix of nature and nurture.
