My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

My name is Taz and and I am an 11 yr. old, 40 lb. beagle basset mix that is back in Rescue after only 3 weeks in my new home! For some reason, luck has not been on my side, especially the last few months. It is really starting to seem like nobody wants me. I was initially found as a stray and taken to a shelter in New York. My owner was located and I was returned to my home, but when I escaped a 2nd time, my owner decided to abandon me at the shelter. I was always such a good boy, so it is hard for me to understand how my owner could dump me at the shelter after all the years of love I gave to him! My days were numbered at the shelter and Penny Angels was full, but they agreed to rescue me because they had a foster home lined up for me. Unfortunately, the foster home was not able to keep me (due to no fault of my own), so I went back to Penny Angels.

Shortly after arriving back in Rescue, they found out that I needed surgery because I had a tumor in my left eye. They removed my eye and all of the damaged surrounding tissue, and there is a good chance that the melanoma will not return. I was feeling so good after the surgery and even thought that my luck was changing when I got adopted in December. Unfortunately, my happiness was short-lived; I was surrendered back to Penny Angels because I barked too much at their 6 month old, unaltered pit bull puppy, OR perhaps it was because the puppy barked too much at me. Whatever the reason, the end result was the same: I ended up back in Rescue! It really wasn't fair for them to bring me into their home in the first place, especially knowing that they had an energized puppy! Oh well, I guess I just have to forget about it and start again.

As an older boy, I would enjoy a quiet, stable environment in which to live out my senior years. I am generally calm when in the house and enjoy spending time outside. I get along fine with well-behaved dogs and like to play with toys. Do you have a spot for me in your heart and in your home? I really want my next home to be my forever home, so please don’t adopt me if there is a chance that you might return me to Rescue; I don’t think that my heart could handle the rejection again. Please help me find a home for the New Year!
