My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hello! I'm Mark! Well, my foster family really only calls me that when I'm doing something mischievous (like seeing what tasty food might have been left too close to the edge of the counter!). Mostly they call me Mooie or Mr. Moo because when I'm happy - which is a lot of the time - I moo like a cow! Now that I've introduced myself let me tell you a little about me. I am a bigger beagle at 35 pounds, probably mixed with coonhound, which gives me super soft long ears, long legs, a long tail and a desperate desire to tree squirrels! I also love to stare out the window and look for squirrels - I'm REALLY good at letting you know when I've spotted one!

I was found as a stray and I've probably been an outdoor dog my whole life. I didn't know much about indoor life when I first got to my foster home, but man do I love it now! I'm really affectionate and I'm as good at cuddling as I am at looking for squirrels. I love to lie right on top of my foster mom and dad so they can hug me and scratch my ears. I even fall asleep like that! When I'm not asleep I'm very energetic and I love to play! I love to throw around my kong toy in the back yard and play fetch all by myself, then I get so excited that I run around really fast in big circles - kongs are the best! I LOVE the dog park and I get along really, really well with other dogs. I'm on the submissive side and generally don't care even when the other beagle who lives here snaps at me if I get too close to her food or favorite toy. I just walk away and after a few minutes try to play with her again! When I play I do get a little mouthy and nippy. Because of that and my tendency to jump up on people (another coonhound trait) I probably wouldn't be the best around small children under the age of 7 or 8. I also wouldn't do well in an apartment since I just HAVE to let you know about all those squirrels (I can get a little loud, that's the coonhound in me!).

I'm getting better at my house training, but I'm still working on it. I'd rather potty outside than inside, but I haven't quite figured out how to let my foster family know when I need to go out, so if they don't remember
to take me out every 4 or 5 hours I sometimes still have accidents. They tell me I'm getting better every day! I'm also working on learning not to jump on people when I meet them - I just get soooooo excited about meeting new friends! Speaking of meeting new people, you should know I'm a pretty determined escape artist, so you'll have to be careful any time guests come and go, or any time you open the door. My foster family usually holds my collar, but I'm getting a lot better at "stay." I'm also getting pretty good at walking on leash! I used to try to run after all the squirrels I saw, but foster dad has been showing me the ropes and now I walk really well (most of the time...hehe)! Good news, too - I'm crate trained! I sleep in my crate every night and even put myself to bed if my humans haven't done it by bed time!

My wish list for my forever home would include a (very securely) fenced yard so I can run round, trips to a dog park, a family who is willing to continue my training indoors and on leash and, most importantly, a family that will love me, hug me, pet me, and play with me every day for the rest of my life! My foster family thinks I'm SUPER cute and they'd love to tell you more about me, so tell MW BREW you can't live one more minute without me!

Mooooooooooooo, Mr. Mooie...I mean Mark...
